Canford Minor Practice (SDGR) Weds 8th Feb 7.30pm

Our next minor practice will be on Wednesday 8th February when we will be ringing all the methods learned so far:

  • St Clements College Bob,
  • Little Bob,
  • Single Court and
  • Double Court Bob Minor.

Although we managed without ‘helpers’ last time, we would really appreciate experienced ringers to help us – especially with calling touches.

Hope to see as many of you as possible!

Ian Rees Reports from the Basingstoke District Practice

14 ringers turned up for the Basingstoke District Practice Saturday the 15th of October at Sherfield on Loddon, representing, representing 6 towers. A good standard of ringing was achieved, and methods included Grandsire, Plain Bob and St Simon’s Doubles, Plain Bob, St Clement’s and Cambridge minor, as well as call changes. Stedman Doubles just wouldn’t go.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, with one ringer covering to doubles for the first time.

We look forward to our last practice of the year which will be at Rotherwick on Saturday 19th November at Rotherwick, from 2 – 4 pm. All ringers will be welcome.

East Dorset District Launches New Minor Methods Practice (Weds Oct 12th)

Marisa Bartlett writes:

Paul Tyson and I would like to announce that a new Monthly Minor Practice will begin on Wednesday 12th October at Canford Magna church – 7.30pm – 9.00pm.

The idea is to help ringers progress to more complex minor and, eventually, Surprise Minor methods, with the help of experienced ringers to support them – but it all depends on the number of people who turn up – in particular helpers.  The minimum ability is that you can ring touches to Plain Bob Minor.

The first method will be St Clement’s Bob Minor.  If you want to attend this session and learn to ring this method please ensure you’ve looked at the line and have a rough idea about the touches.

** CONFIRMED TAKING PLACE **

Many thanks

Practice Night Report – Christchurch Priory 7th March

The Priory Practice kicked off as usual promptly at 6.50 with the “learners and improvers” practice, and worked hard on Rounds and Simple Call Changes, interspersed with plenty of Plain Bob and Grandsire Doubles, partly in preparation for a planned “First QP of Plain Bob Doubles” for Luke.

Work on Stedman Doubles, inspired by Nicola’s enthusiasm having learned it at Hordle, continued with 2 solid plain courses. Just one extra competent ringer makes all the difference – thanks to the usual visitors from Hordle, we even had enough to allow for a stander-behind.

A number of the band attended the District Practice and Striking Competition last Saturday and came back inspired to ring more St. Clement’s Minor. We rang some successful plain courses, and departed intending to thoroughly learn the touches for next week!
