The competitions, in method ringing and in call-changes, will take place on Saturday 13 May 2017, in conjunction with the Quarterly District Meeting. Both will take place at Easton. The draw for both competitions will be at the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Preston Candover at 2.30 p.m.
Each team will be allowed four minutes’ practice time and they should ring two whole pulls on the treble to signal that the test piece is about to start.
A touch of 120 changes in any doubles or minor method will be judged. The rounds before and after will not be judged.
The test piece will be four minutes of call-changes. The rounds before and after will not be judged.
Teams must comprise tower band members who ring for Sunday service. Towers who share ringers regularly for Sunday services may enter as a team. If a band enters teams for both competitions, a maximum of two ringers from the band would be allowed to ring in both teams. Any team may include one ringer from outside the band.
Towers with insufficient ringers to enter their own team may find it useful and enjoyable to join up with others in the same position, to gain experience of competition ringing. These “composite” teams will be judged, but will not be eligible for the main trophy. There will be a presentation to the best composite team or teams. No ringer may ring for more than one team.
Please submit your entry to Bruce Purvis, District Secretary, by 10 May 2017. It would be helpful to know by 3 May which towers are likely to be entering a team. Anyone whose tower is not participating and who would like to be part of a composite band is welcome to contact us and we will do our best to place you in a team. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us for help.
