Dear All,
Please find attached poster for our next District practice, which is in Crawley, so nice and central for (nearly) everyone.
Hope to see lots of you there!
Best wishes meanwhile,

Dear All,
Sorry about this – with all the excitement, etc. of the Annual District Meeting and our own tower AGM on Wednesday, this upcoming date escaped my attention – District Practice, next Tuesday, 20th February, at Crawley.
Crawley has five bells, so even if only a handful can turn up it will make a huge difference to what people can do.
I’ve attached posters, as is my wont, for your tower notice boards or for forwarding to band members.
Best wishes and apologies once again,
Bruce
District Secretary
Coral died in hospital on Sunday 12th November. We have just heard that there will be a Service of Thanksgiving for Coral at Mary’s church, Crawley on Friday 1st December at 11.30 am.
Coral rang regularly at so many churches in the Winchester area and around Hampshire. In addition, Coral was a member of the Ladies Guild and also attended David Forder’s Mid Monthly Meetings.
There will be open ringing after the service for anyone who would like to ring for coral and the wake in the village hall. Crawley and sparsholt ringers are ringing before the service.
Dear All,
VERY sorry about the late notice for our next District Practice this coming Tuesday – thanks to Elizabeth Johnson for her gentle reminder to me this afternoon!
Even if we can only get an extra half-dozen to come along to the Crawley practice on Tuesday, that will make a tremendous difference to what can be achieved, so if you CAN make it your presence will be much appreciated.
Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday
Bruce
District Secretary
Dear All,
Apologies for short notice … there’s been a lot going on recently.
But in a fortnight’s time your District offers once more the chance to master one of the key skills in ringing – that of raising and lowering. The lowering, especially, is what congregations hear, the last thing before services begin: that’s what they take away with them about ringing, and if it works well it is a magical experience. If not ….
Anyway, we shall be meeting at Crawley on Saturday 8th October, a fortnight’s time, a little ground floor five with no handling vices, a perfect environment for learning.
Please let me know if you would like to come along to learn/rehearse your skills or if you can help.
Best wishes
Bruce
District Secretary
A member of the Crawley band shared some of the BBC coverage of Bell Ringing on the village Facebook Group this week, prompting one person to put their name forward for lessons.
Two other people (who had previously expressed an interest in learning) decided to take the plunge into bell ringing as well.
Tower Correspondent Amanda Byford said “Our previous recruits are making really good progress and we are delighted to welcome these new ones into the band. We practice on a Tuesday and we are really keen to build our Sunday band, aiming to ring at least on the First Sunday of every month.”
Visiting Ringers are most welcome to practice or to ring on Sundays – but please call in advance of your visit.
