Another excellent day out, thanks to Simon Edwards and the Lilliputers for organising.
Starting at Awbridge where we made good use of this private ring and then on to Eling.
After lunch we had a quick grab at the Hartley 12 at South Stoneham and then on to North Stoneham where we had an excellent touch of Grandsire Royal. Obviously no day out with Simon would be complete without some even bell Grandsire action!!.
Finally we enjoyed the 12 at Hursley where we were inducted into Birmingham style rounds, back rounds and Queens, changing on successive strokes. Very challenging and any handling mistakes will be very quickly exposed! Great to have you all visiting our area.
On practice nights and Sundays, access is by the main entrance. The church is at the top of a slight slope and there are small steps down as you go in to the church. The Hartley 12 is located to the right of the main “crossroads” of paths.
There is parking in the church car park which the main door leads into and blue badge holders can park in the car park that is on your left as you go into the church. The road to the church is off the corner by Connaught Halls on Wessex Lane road.

Tuesday 22nd March – the Tuesday of Holy Week when traditionally many towers are silent, there will be an evening at Bishopstoke on Simulators; how they work, how they might be used within your tower, the potential for training, and lots more. Full details will be sent out shortly – but the evening is FREE.
Friday 6th May – at South Stoneham – an Evening with The Hartley Twelve. This is your golden opportunity to try something completely different! The Hartley Twelve is a mini-ring with the tenor weighing 15 lbs 6 oz, requiring a very different ringing technique. This will be a fun evening for ringers of all abilities, with lots of experienced help available; you won’t need to learn any 12-bell methods!! More details will be published shortly.
Draft pages (awaiting feedback from their bands) for Breamore, Eling, Fawley, Fordingbridge, Harbridge, Hinton, Hordle, Sopley, the Hartley 12 and South Stoneham have been added to the new Guild website.
Southampton City Ringers have their own website, so a page has been added for the City, and once their webmaster has given input, the “zone” will be completed.
