Just a reminder what is happening during this next week.
Monday 30th December 2019 is Method Monday – 6:00pm until 7.30pm. Methods will be St Clements College Bob Minor and variable hunt doubles. We will also be ringing the usual repertoire, followed by beer and Wetherspoons pizza.
Tuesday 31st December 2019 – New Years Eve – Ringing at St Peter’s from 11:00pm with bubbles and nibblettes. Please let Peter know you are coming, so he can tell you how to get in and make the ascent!
Wednesday 1st January 2020 – Ringing for lunchtime Mass – 11.30am – 12.15pm (following an earlier quarter peal).
Sunday 5th January 2020 – usual ringing from 10:00am (also 9:15am at St. Peter’s).
Monday 6th January 2020 – Practice is cancelled due to a Solemn Mass in the Extraordinary Form in the church. BUT we may be meeting elsewhere for something completely different….. Watch this space.
Tuesday 8th October at 7:30pm (until 9:00pm) is 8 bell practice at St. John’s. Following a series of well attended practices, we continue with Plain Hunt, Single Oxford Bob Triples, Plain Bob Triples, Stedman Triples, Grandsire Triples. We will, of course, be ringing other request methods & rounds & called changes as usual, so all ringers most welcome.
This is not an elite practice night. All are welcome.
THIS OUTING HAS SADLY HAD TO BE CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF CONFIRMED NUMBERS (FEWER THAN 8), MAKING THE DAY FINANCIALLY NOT VIABLE.
I would appreciate feedback – you can contact me via the link further down, below.
Following the poster that went out to tower contacts last week, here are all of the finalised details I have been busy working on. If all goes to plan, looks to be a great trip, in an Area of Natural Beauty. Historical towers for ringers, bygone trams and cream teas along the coast for those that join us that do not ring.
Please let me know names and numbers as soon as you can, plus your lunch choices. There is a downloadable pdf pack below, so you can print of all, or the pages you need. Also screen grabs of the pdf for instantaneous ease of viewing if you’re going paperless!
Tomorrow – 10th – is 8 bell practice at St. John’s. following a month of well attended practices, we are hopeful that we will finally achieve a touch of Single Oxford Bob Triples. We will, of course, be ringing other Triples methods & rounds & called changes as usual, so all ringers most welcome.
This is not an elite practice night. All are welcome.
Thank you all for your replies and we would just about have had enough ringers for a practice. However, I’ve just learnt that the no.3 stay is still broken and to avoid any further problems have decided to cancel this month’s practice.
Let’s hope we’re all back from hols etc next month and the stay repaired and we can have a really good practice then.
All the best,
Previously…to be carried forward for October:
Another month passes by and the hoiday season is receding.
After our success last month with Grandsire Monor we’ll continue on a minor theme again this month, and I propose that we try full touches on Wednesday (we got a bob course last month).
We’ve been ringing Plain and Little Bob Minor recently, seperately, so we’ll try a little splicing of these methods. Ross circulated some notes to the Bournemouth ringers and I hope he won’t mind me making use of his notes with our group. Please find them attached.
Again’ if anyone wants to call a touch of anything, please let me know.
Please lets me know Yes/No if you’ll be able to come along.
Here are the details of the next meeting. Apologies for the delay as we were trying to organise skittles for after the meeting, however that has proven too hard this year, watch this space for next year.
Everyone welcome to come along even if you are not taking part in the striking contest. If there are any teams for the striking contest, please let Colin Butler know.
A general poster for the Outing at the end of the month will be sent out after this e-mail. Please encourage all your members to come along. Full details will be released at the meeting.
Our bells/sliders/clappers have come home at last.
Monday night practices resume from 6:00pm until 7.30pm, followed by beer.
There will be no specific Method Monday for September (October as normal), as it will just be great to get everything back up and running again. BUT we will try to ring several touches of Little Bob Minor!
Also huge congratulations to Ben and Hannah, who have just announced their engagement.
Where did the month of May go? It will have passed and we haven’t rung “May Day” variation – so to correct this it’s on the programme for next Wednesday. It is Bob Doubles with a Pinks Single as shown on the attached schedule.
We’ll continue with Little Bob Minor and try touches, and also Plain Bob Minor touches (with singles). The eventual aim is to be able to splice these two methods.
If time permits, Stedman can be rung on request.
If anyone wants to practice calling a touch of anything please let me know and we’ll fit it in the practice.
A busy evening coming! PDF of charts and singles below in links.
Hope to see you there,
PS As always it’s always useful to know who will be coming in advance – so please let me know
We shall be practising as usual on Bank Holiday Monday 27th May 2019 from 6:00pm until 7:30pm. This will be followed by beer at The Moon on The Square.
Method Monday 3rd June 6:00pm until 7:30pm – we will be ringing Erin Doubles, so you will need to do some homework. This is a good starting point for Stedman. Erin was also the method of the month for May’s district practice at Bitterne Park.
We shall also be ring touches of Saint Clements College Bob Minor.
This will be followed by Beer and Pizza at the Moon in the Square or Zizzi’s.
Here is a reminder of the regular monthly district practices. If your tower is running a monthly practice, and would like to be included on the list, and calendar online/printed events calendar, please let us know.
