Just a quick reminder that there’s the monthly doubles practice at Lymington on Wednesday the 12th of July.
This is a great practice if you want to progress your doubles ringing or even calling, and will be ably organised by Colin Butler, one of our Ringing Masters.
There are no special methods currently planned, though we’re likely to be ringing Bob Doubles, Grandsire and probably Stedman. Maybe we can talk Colin into calling some April day even.
You can usually park outside the church on the road, if not, there is plenty of parking behind Marks & Spencers a couple of minutes walk away.
The C&S District Practice will be at Sopley next Saturday from 6pm to 8pm.
As usual all standards of ringing will be catered for, from rounds and call changes upwards.
There this time two special methods of the month, St Simons and St Martins doubles.
On the 4th March we are running another charity concert at Milford-on-Sea featuring the Sway Handbell Ringers and the Bournemouth Male Voice choir

We’ve been kindly invited to the East Dorset’s Branch practice at St Peters – Bournemouth on Saturday the 11th of February from 15.00 – 17.00.
This is a great opportunity to ring not just at St Peters, a lovely ring of 8, but with our neighbouring guild and gain a new experience.
The practice at Minstead this week, Thursday 2 February, will be brought forward by 30 minutes: from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.
This is a one-off change of timing. Usual practices are 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

Jut a quick reminder as it’s going to be the third Wednesday of the month, this means it’s triples focused night at Ringwoood.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to have a go at ringing triples this is a great practice to join, especially as a gentle introduction. If you’re an experienced triples ringer then we’d really really appreciate your help as well – please.
As with most practices, though the focus is on Triples, there will be opportunities to ring doubles and minor. Depending on availability there will hopefully be the opportunities to ring Major as well.
Hope to see you there.

This is the last call for anybody who wants to get a guild branded sweat or polo shirt.
The original post has details of how to order, but this needs to be done by the 28th of October.

A wonderful day of teaching and ringing Bob Doubles and Minor was held by the Guild.
The ringers met at Hawkley village hall for tea and biscuits and a theory session on each methods. The ringers were then split into groups and went off to various towers in the area to put into practice the what they’d learnt.
Good progress was made by all ringers, having a steady band around them makes learning much easier. With an hour and a half’s ringing ever ringer got plenty of rope time to help fix the method in to their mind.
A lunch at a local pub (all of which seemed to provide lovely food) and it was back to Hawkley for another theory session before heading off again for more ringing.
In the second practice most ringers not only rang plain courses but many moved on to touches, both unaffected and affected.
A big thank you goes out to the Education Committee for organising this and to all the helpers who helped make it such a good day.
Change to Sunday ringing time:
With immediate effect, Service ringing is from 8.45 -9.15 on 1st and 3rd Sundays

Steve Hough from Eling has produced and uploaded a wonderful video on to Youtube of the C&S outing to Oxford.
Thank you Steve for this lovely video.
The BBC has run a coordinated set of features across the country on the future of bell ringing. We’ve had our own article on BBC Radio Solent and BBC Radio Guernsey, but there is also a national feature, plus other areas.

As with all BBC Iplayer content, you only have a limited amount of time to listen to these.
District meetings seem to sneak up on you. We’ve the C&S district meeting at Milford on the 3rd of September.
Remember this is not just a district meeting, but there is general ringing and Hinton Striking trophy beforehand.
Posters;
Update from Daniel Graham on 31st August. The 9th at St Michael’s Southampton is now ringable again, following the visit of two of Matthew Higby’s team today. A shifted bearing was repaired and all is now good again.
Regards
Daniel
Please note that the 9th bell at St Michael’s Southampton is currently unringable with suspected gudgeon problems. Ringing is limited to the front 6 until this has been properly examined and the problem resolved.
Southampton City practices may be subject to tower changes so please check our website carefully before attending. Sunday morning ringing will continue on the front 6 for the time being.
Further updates will be published when more is known.
Cheers,
Daniel
