Congratulations to Romsey Abbey on winning the 2018 Inter Tower 6 bell striking Competition yesterday, the 19th May at Lockerley.
4 tower teams, plus one scratchband, entered the hotly contested competition which was judged by John Harrison from All Saints, Wokingham. The weather was wonderful and the setting idyllic for a pleasant evening sitting in the sunshine listening to some fine ringing. Tea and cakes were provided by the local band for which we were very grateful so our thanks go to them.
The results were
Place | Tower | Faults | speed | Ringing order |
FIRST | Romsey Abbey | 21 | 3m, 47s | 2nd |
SECOND | Basingstoke (St Michael) | 23 | 4m, 0s | 3rd |
THIRD | Eling & Southampton | 28 | 4m, 15s | 1st |
FOURTH | Brading | 68 | 4m,12 | 4th |
NO POSITION | Scratchband | 60 | 4m, 8s | 5th |
Unfortunately the 8 bell competition was cancelled due to insufficient team entries.

I’m sure that should be Eling & Southampton? However congratulations to Romsey 😃
