A group of youngsters have been learning the ropes quite literally this summer – at a week-long introduction to ringing course run at Shipley. Recruits from Shipley and the surrounding villages signed up for 5 days of bellringing tuition – interspersed with some fun and games – as part of the holiday scheme ‘Fun In The Belfry’. By the end of the week not only was everyone able to handle a bell on their own, but six of the older learners were able to ring rounds together (with a little help from their mentors) to show their parents how to do it! The parish’s plan was to improve outreach in response to the Diocesan Strategy.
