Alan Regan Writes:
Serjeant Percy William Worsfold, Alton, Winchester Diocesan. Died 21/01/1916 age 37. Hampshire Regiment 1st/4th Bn. Service No. 200042.
Commemorated at Basra Memorial, Iraq, Panel 21 and 63.. Son of Edwin and Emily Selina Worsfold, of Stonebridge, Shalford, Guildford.
Born: Guildford, Surrey Enlisted: Alton, Hants Resided: Alton, Hants.
He is listed in the Great War Roll of Honour, with his name unfortunately spelled incorrectly, as follows:

His name appears on the War Memorial in Alton, the unusually constructed one close to the Curtis Museum and in his “home” village of Shalford.
As we are approaching the Centenary of his death I was wondering if it might be possible to arrange some ringing at Alton to commemorate his sacrifice on or close to the anniversary of his death?
